Job summary

Protech Group is seeking a Trades Assistant for a busy, process-driven workshop in George Town, TAS. This hands-on role supports fabrication, maintenance, and general workshop operations in a safety-focused environment.

A strong mechanical aptitude and reliable transport are required to join a proactive team. Key duties include assisting tradespeople, operating workshop tools, and helping maintain a clean, safe workspace.

About the Role: PROTECH

are currently seeking Trades Assistants to join a busy process driven workshop in George Town, TAS. This is a hands‑on role offering ongoing work within a safety‑focused environment, supporting fabrication, maintenance, and workshop operations. If you possess strong mechanical aptitude, enjoy working with tools, and thrive in a workshop environment, we want to hear from you.

Trade Assistant Key Responsibilities

• Production TA duties such as- Welding & Assisting Tradespeople where required
• Operating tools and workshop equipment
• Supporting fabrication, maintenance, and general workshop duties
• Maintaining a clean and safe work area

Trades Assistant Requirements

• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Previous experience as a Trades Assistant, Labourer, or in a similar role
• Commitment to workplace health & safety with great eye for detail
• Current driver’s licence and reliable transport
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude
• Ability to pass a pre‑employment medical and drug & alcohol screen
• Forklift, EWP, Working at Heights, or Confined Space tickets highly regarded
