Job summary

Metroll in Smithfield, NSW is seeking a Trades Counter Assistant to deliver exceptional customer service at the trade counter and support sales colleagues.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will greet customers, provide product information, prepare quotations, and process sales orders while maintaining accurate records.

This hands-on role requires a forklift license, strong communication, and the ability to juggle multiple tasks in a busy environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service or sales support in a trade counter or retail environment.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Proactive, friendly, customer-focused approach with multi-tasking ability.
• Ability to manage priorities in a busy trade counter setting.
• Good organisational, admin, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• A current forklift license is required.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming customers and responding to counter, telephone and email enquiries.
• Identifying customer needs and providing appropriate product information and solutions.
• Preparing quotations, processing sales orders and handling customer transactions.
• Assisting customers with product availability, pricing and order enquiries.
• Coordinating customer orders with internal sales and warehouse teams to ensure timely collection and delivery.
• Maintaining accurate customer records, sales documentation and order information.
• Following up on customer enquiries, quotations and outstanding orders.
• Maintaining a clean, organised and professional trade counter and showroom environment.
