Job summary

Metroll Smithfield is seeking a motivated Trades Counter Assistant to join our busy branch. Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will deliver friendly, professional customer service to trade customers, builders and contractors, and support day-to-day sales activities.

You will handle enquiries, quotations, orders and showroom interactions, coordinate with warehouse staff for timely pickups, maintain accurate records, and help grow product knowledge through ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in customer service or retail.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Proactive, friendly and customer-focused approach.
• Forklift license and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming customers and responding to counter, telephone and email enquiries.
• Identifying customer needs and providing appropriate product information and solutions.
• Preparing quotations, processing sales orders and handling customer transactions.
• Assisting customers with product availability, pricing and order enquiries.
• Coordinating customer orders with internal sales and warehouse teams to ensure timely collection and delivery.
• Maintaining accurate customer records, sales documentation and order information.
• Following up on customer enquiries, quotations and outstanding orders.
• Maintaining a clean, organised and professional trade counter and showroom environment.
