Job summary

Blackbook Executive is seeking a Trade Assistant to join a leading food manufacturing operation in Victoria. You will work closely with the site’s maintenance team, keeping the maintenance stores organised and ensuring parts and tools are available for planned and breakdown work.

This hands-on role focuses on spares management, inventory control and building work kits for tradespeople. The roster is 7 days on / 7 days off, dayshift only, with a permanent opportunity and strong work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Experience in spares management and inventory control.
• Hands-on and practical approach.
• Able to work with electricians, fitters and maintenance personnel.
• Formal trade qualifications not required.

Responsibilities

• Managing and organising maintenance spares and inventory.
• Stocktaking and maintaining accurate inventory levels.
• Ensuring all parts and equipment are correctly labelled and stored.
• Building work kits/job kits so tradespeople have everything required.
• Acting as a spotter for high-risk work where required.
• Keeping the stores and maintenance areas clean, safe and organised.
• Supporting the maintenance team to minimise downtime and keep jobs moving.

The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Trade Assistant to join a leading manufacturing operation and work closely with the site’s maintenance team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in spares management, inventory control, stores or trade assistance who enjoys being hands-on and wants to become an important part of a maintenance team.
Working a 7 days on / 7 days off, dayshift-only roster, you’ll play a key role in keeping the maintenance stores organised, ensuring the team has the right parts and tools available, and providing hands-on support during maintenance activities and breakdowns.
About the RoleThis role will be responsible for maintaining a well-organised and efficient maintenance stores environment, while also providing practical support to the maintenance team when required.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing and organising maintenance spares and inventory

What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is organised, practical and proactive, with previous experience in a similar environment.
Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience as a Trade Assistant, Storesperson or Maintenance Assistant
• Experience with spares management and inventory control
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• A hands-on approach and willingness to get involved
• The ability to work closely with electricians, fitters and maintenance personnel
• Good understanding of workplace safety
• A reliable and team-focused attitude

Formal trade qualifications are not required. Previous experience working around maintenance teams, tools, machinery or spare parts will be highly regarded.
