Job summary

Thiess is seeking a reliable Trade Assistant for the Curragh North Coal Project, 10km north of Blackwater, QLD. You will support tradespeople, assist stores, and help with general site maintenance in a safety-first environment.

The role is permanent, with a 7/7 day/night roster, camp accommodation options, and ongoing training. A strong teamwork ethic and commitment to safety are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Trade Assistant in mining, heavy industry or construction environments is preferred.
• Commitment to a safe and productive workplace is essential.
• Ability to work well in a team and follow directions.

Responsibilities

• Support tradespeople with workshop repairs, maintenance and general tasks.
• Assist stores with inventory management and warehouse operations.
• Complete general site maintenance including mowing, spraying and minor repairs.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards across workshop and ops areas.
• Demonstrate a positive, safety-focused attitude and contribute to team success.

The Opportunity

Are you a reliable and safety-focused Trade Assistant who enjoys working in a hands-on maintenance environment? Thiess is seeking motivated Trade Assistants to join our high-performing team at Curragh North Coal Project, located 10km north of Blackwater in the Bowen Basin.

As a key member of the Curragh North Maintenance team, you'll play an important role in supporting safe and efficient maintenance activities across the operation while contributing to a strong safety culture and high housekeeping standards.

Roster: 7/7 Day & Night Rotating | Location: Curragh North Coal Project, QLD | Employment Type: Permanent

As the Trade Assistant, you will:

• Support tradespeople with workshop repairs, maintenance activities and general workshop tasks
• Assist stores personnel with inventory management and warehouse operations
• Complete general site maintenance activities including mowing, spraying and minor repairs
• Maintain high housekeeping standards across all workshop and operational areas
• Demonstrate a positive, safety-focused attitude while contributing to team success

About you

• Previous experience as a Trade Assistant within mining, heavy industry or construction environments (highly regarded)
• Commitment to maintaining a safe and productive workplace
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
• Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn and support multiple maintenance functions

Desirable Qualifications

• HR Driver Licence
• Current Forklift Licence (LF)
• Current Standard 11 (or willingness to obtain)
