Job summary

Somerset Regional Council is seeking an experienced Tractor/Slasher Operator to join its multi-disciplined team. You will operate a tractor and flail mower to undertake slashing and vegetation management on roadsides, firebreaks and other land, plus perform various construction and maintenance tasks across the Region.

The role requires experience with slashing and vegetation management, a nationally recognised certificate for plant operation, sound WHS knowledge, and good interpersonal skills.

• Certificate of competency for operation of relevant plant and machinery (nationally recognised RII or VOC qualification)
• Sound knowledge of work health and safety requirements
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor and flail mower with powered implements to undertake slashing and vegetation management on roadsides
• Perform construction and maintenance tasks at various locations within the Region

Job description

Team Somerset is seeking an experienced Tractor/ Slasher Operator to join their multi-disciplined team. As a Tractor / Slasher Operator, you will operate a tractor and flail mower (if required) with powered implements to undertake slashing and vegetation management operations of TMR and Council roadsides, firebreaks and other Council land and properties; and perform a broad range of construction and maintenance activities at various locations within the Region.

To be successful in the role, you will require:

Experience with slashing, mowing and vegetation management operations

Certificate of competency for the operation of relevant plant and machinery (nationally recognised RII or VOC qualification)

Sound knowledge of work health and safety requirements

Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
