Bega Valley Shire Council invites applications for a Town Planner Cadet under its Emerging Talent Program. You will undertake an undergraduate qualification in Town Planning while gaining hands-on experience in Development Advisory, Statutory Planning, Environmental Planning and Strategic Planning.

You will work with experienced planning professionals, prepare reports and planning advice, and may travel for residential study blocks as part of your academic program.

Qualifications

• Holder of a Higher School Certificate or equivalent and eligible to enrol in a bachelor-level program.
• Demonstrated interest in town planning, urban development or local government.
• Strong written and verbal communication and stakeholder liaison skills.
• Analytical and detail-oriented with ability to manage priorities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and meet deadlines.

Responsabilités

• Assist in assessment of development applications and learn planning legislation and processes.
• Contribute to strategic planning initiatives including local planning strategies and environmental planning instruments.
• Develop skills in stakeholder engagement and customer service for planning inquiries.
• Prepare reports, correspondence and planning advice with experienced professionals.
• Apply university learning in a practical environment to develop town planning skills.
