Job summary

Bega Valley Shire Council offers an exciting Emerging Talent Program for a motivated individual to join as a Business Cadet while pursuing an undergraduate qualification in Business or a related discipline.

You will gain practical experience across Organisational Services and Executive Services, with exposure to People & Culture, Governance, Digital Services and more, while supported by mentorship and structured learning.

Qualifications

• Interest in business, governance, organisational development or local government.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, including confidentiality.
• Ability to work collaboratively and manage competing priorities.
• Willingness to apply academic knowledge in a practical workplace.

Responsibilities

• Assist with recruitment, onboarding, learning and development, performance management and wellbeing programs.
• Support Enterprise Risk and WHS systems, risk registers and safety initiatives.
• Assist with governance and GIPA activities, information requests and reporting.
• Support community engagement initiatives, stakeholder consultation and corporate planning processes.
• Support Digital Services governance, assurance, and compliance activities, including contract and risk registers, invoicing, reporting and audit support.
• Apply university learning in a practical environment to develop professional skills.
