Job summary

Lifestyle Solutions is seeking a Therapeutic Youth Worker to support children and young people in care across Maitland and Newcastle. The role focuses on creating safe, nurturing environments to help develop emotional regulation and life skills, through active support and daily goal planning.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant qualification (Diploma or willingness to enrol) and strong communication, empathy, and resilience.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualifications or willingness to enrol in a Diploma in Youth Work, Community Services, Disability, Education, Mental Health related field.
• Experience supporting children and/or young people with complex needs.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Empathy, resilience, and a solutions-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Support children and young people who have experienced trauma or challenging life circumstances to create safe, stable, nurturing environments.
• Provide active support: meal prep, dressing, transport, social outings, daily goals planning.
• Administer and document medications and health support plans as required.
• Implement positive behavior support and manage triggers and escalations.
• Safeguard safety and complete necessary documentation and reports; pass screening processes.

About you

• Relevant qualifications or willingness to enrol in a Diploma in Youth Work, Community Services, Disability, Education, Mental Health related field.

• Unrestricted driver's license.
• Regular availability across a range of shifts, including weekends and overnights.

What you'll be doing

• You'll be supporting children and young people who have experienced trauma, neglect, or challenging life circumstances, creating safe, stable, and nurturing environments to help them develop emotional regulation, life skills, and positive relationships.
• Active support: meal prep, dressing, transportation, social outings, plan for and achieve daily goals.
• Health support: administer and document medication and follow health support plans.
• Positive behavior support: manage behaviours, triggers and escalations.
