Job summary

Macquarie University Health is expanding its Urology Theatre team and seeking an experienced perioperative Registered Nurse (scrub/scout) for a permanent full-time position.

Join our state-of-the-art operating theatres and work with surgeons, anaesthetists and theatre staff to deliver high‑quality perioperative care across a range of urological procedures. We support ongoing professional development in an academically integrated health precinct.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA (Australian health practitioner registration).
• Experience as scrub and/or scout nurse, with urology procedures highly desirable.
• Familiarity with urological surgical equipment such as endoscopic systems, laser devices and irrigation systems.
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, communication and IT skills.
• Strong customer service focus with the ability to build relationships with patients and peers.
• Proficient in electronic medical records, Word, Excel and web research.
• Ability to work autonomously in scrub/scout roles while maintaining high clinical standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up surgical instruments and specialised urological equipment.
• Perform scrub and/or scout duties across a range of urological surgeries.
• Conduct pre-operative safety checks in line with perioperative protocols.
• Operate essential equipment including endoscopic systems, lasers and irrigation devices.
• Assist the surgical team during procedures to support optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain a sterile theatre environment and adhere to infection control standards.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and participate in team education.
