Job summary

Global Vision Recruitment – Strathfield NSW is seeking an experienced Chef for a Thai restaurant in North Strathfield, NSW.

You will prepare authentic Thai cuisine and lead kitchen operations, ensuring quality, efficiency and safety while mentoring staff. Requires a Diploma in Commercial Cookery or 3+ years of chef experience; Thai cuisine knowledge preferred. 38 hours per week, $96,000 salary plus 12% superannuation.

Qualifications

• Diploma level qualification or higher in Commercial Cookery, Hospitality or a related field; or
• At least 3 years’ relevant experience as a Chef in place of a formal qualification.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare Thai menus and daily food requirements, estimate food and labour costs, and coordinate the ordering and availability of fresh ingredients and kitchen supplies.
• Prepare and cook a range of authentic Thai dishes, including curries, stir-fries and other menu items, in accordance with established recipes and cooking techniques.
• Monitor the quality, consistency, flavour and presentation of dishes throughout food preparation and service.
• Coordinate with the restaurant management and kitchen team regarding food preparation, menu requirements, kitchen operations and service demands.
• Demonstrate and maintain appropriate Thai cooking techniques and provide guidance to kitchen staff on food preparation and cooking procedures.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards throughout the kitchen, including proper food handling, storage and preparation practices.
• Monitor stock levels, minimise food wastage and ensure ingredients are stored and handled appropriately.
• Assist with training and supervising kitchen staff to ensure food preparation and cooking standards are consistently maintained.
