Canberra Grammar School invites an engaging Textiles and Design Teacher to connect creativity with practical skills across Years 7–12. You will guide students from initial sketches to finished products and share in curriculum planning, assessment and inclusive practice.

You will contribute to pastoral care, co-curricular opportunities and the broader life of the School, fostering wellbeing, confidence and personal growth for diverse learners.

Qualifications

• Qualified and enthusiastic educator with creativity and energy.
• Ability to teach across Years 7–12 and senior level.
• Experience or knowledge in Design and Technology, Textiles and Fashion Design, Product Design and Technologies, Fibre Production Technologies.
• Desirable: coding knowledge and integration in lessons.
• Strong assessment, feedback and data use to support student learning.
• Commitment to pastoral care, co-curriculars and whole-school life.
• Excellent written and spoken English and strong interpersonal skills.
• Safeguarding commitment and working rights in Australia.

About The Role

Canberra Grammar School is seeking an engaging Textiles and Design Teacher who can connect creative thinking with practical skills, empowering students to take an idea from its first sketch to a finished product.

Teaching across Years 7–12, you will create hands‑on learning experiences that encourage experimentation, develop technical confidence and challenge students to solve problems through design. Your expertise will help students discover the possibilities of materials, technologies and making, while developing skills they can carry beyond the classroom.

Working alongside passionate colleagues, you will contribute to curriculum planning, classroom practice and assessment, sharing ideas and creating inclusive learning experiences that support and extend students across a range of abilities.

You will also contribute to pastoral care, co‑curricular opportunities and the broader life of the School, building connections that support students’ wellbeing, confidence and personal growth.

About You

You are a qualified and enthusiastic educator who brings creativity, subject expertise and energy to your teaching. You enjoy helping students develop their own ideas, learn through experimentation and experience the satisfaction of making something they are proud of.

• A relevant tertiary degree and teaching qualification
• Subject specialism sufficient to teach a discipline to senior level, with demonstrated success teaching across the secondary years
• Ability to teach Design and Technology, in areas such as; Textiles and Fashion Design, Product Design and Technologies and Fibre Production Technologies
• Knowledge and understanding of coding with experience of teaching would be highly desirable
• Demonstrated capacity to teach across a broad age and ability range, with an inclusive understanding of students’ learning needs
• Demonstrated use of assessment, feedback and data to advance student learningA genuine commitment to pastoral care, co‑curricular engagement and the full life of the School
• Excellent written and spoken English, effective interpersonal communication and strong technological literacy.
• A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
