Whether you are an accomplished educator or an emerging teacher with strong potential, you will be supported by an experienced and collaborative team committed to exceptional teaching, intellectual curiosity and the success of every student.

Teaching at CGS extends well beyond the classroom. Our teachers know their students as individuals, contribute to pastoral care through the Student House system and participate actively in the School’s co-curricular and community life. The position includes teaching, pastoral and co-curricular responsibilities, with some out-of-hours commitments across the School calendar.

  • the capacity to teach students across a broad range of ages, abilities and learning needs
  • an inclusive approach and a strong belief that every student can grow in confidence and capability
  • demonstrated use of assessment, feedback and data to advance student learning
  • a genuine commitment to pastoral care, co-curricular participation and the broader life of the School
  • ability to teach across more than one senior pathway, including the IB Diploma Programme, HSC or IB Middle Years Programme
  • excellent written and spoken English, strong interpersonal skills and confidence using technology to enhance learning.
Personal Attributes
  • a genuine love of Science and the ability to inspire that passion in students
  • dedication to the wellbeing, formation and growth of every young person
  • a commitment to inclusive excellence and high expectations for all learners
  • sound judgement and high professional standards
  • a collaborative, reflective and growth-focused approach to your practice.
All teachers at CGS are required to hold:
  • a relevant tertiary degree and recognised teaching qualification
  • current ACT Teacher Quality Institute registration and a valid WWVP
  • a current National Police Check and full working rights in Australia
Benefits for You

As a CGS team member, you will have access to a range of additional benefits, including:

  • a highly competitive salary
  • superannuation rate of 13.5%
  • an employee recognition and awards programme
  • attractive salary-packaging arrangements
  • complimentary daily barista-made coffee
  • delicious daily morning tea and discounted lunches
  • access to the onsite health clinic and annual influenza vaccinations;
  • 24/7 access to our Employee Assistance Program
Working at CGS

At Canberra Grammar School, teachers are trusted as professionals, supported to grow and encouraged to bring ambition, creativity and fresh thinking to their practice.

You will join a diverse and forward-thinking educational community where academic excellence and student wellbeing are equally valued. You will have the opportunity to teach across respected Australian and international curriculum pathways, collaborate with passionate colleagues and make a meaningful contribution beyond the classroom.

Canberra Grammar School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All applicants will undergo child safety screening and recruitment checks in accordance with the School’s Child Safe policies.
