Job summary

Gilmour Space Technologies in Bowen, Queensland seeks a Testing & Operations Engineer II to lead propulsion test campaigns, analyze data and support launch vehicle integration in a safety‑critical, fast‑paced environment.

Ideal candidates have an engineering degree (Aerospace/Mechanical/Chemical) and 3–5 years of hands-on propulsion testing experience, with strong data analysis and software skills, and a collaborative mindset.

Qualifications

• Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Chemical engineering.
• 3–5 years engineering industry experience.
• Hands-on testing and maintenance of aerospace propulsion systems.
• Experience with data acquisition and processing technology.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and conduct testing and test reviews on launch vehicle systems and propulsion engine sub-systems.
• Perform data analysis on fluids and propulsion systems under test conditions.
• Generate test procedures as well as maintenance plans for test stands and Ground Support Equipment.
• Assess technical and safety risks associated with propulsion tests and implement controls and mitigations to manage risk.
• Assist in the completion of integration activities of components, sub systems, and payloads on orbital and sub-orbital class launch vehicles.
• Participate effectively as part of a launch operations team for the purpose of preparing for and executing successful launch missions.
• Other duties as requested by Management.

Mandatory Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Engineering discipline such as Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering
• 3-5 years’ experience in engineering industry
• Hands on experience testing and maintaining aerospace propulsion systems and associated ground support equipment
• Experience with data acquisition and processing technology and software

Desired Qualifications,Skills and Experience:

• Sustained enthusiasm and interest in space technology and its application for space commercialisation and exploration
• Demonstrated resilience and ability to perform in a fast paced and safety critical environment
• Experience with engineering software such as data acquisition and control software, Product Lifecycle Management software, scripting and coding languages, and Microsoft Office products
• Ability to effectively communicate with a range of staff in the business including engineers, technicians, WHS officers, supervisors and other support departments
