Job summary

Gilmour Space Technologies is leading Australia’s space program, developing next‑generation propulsion for small satellite launchers. We seek a Propulsion Engineer I to contribute to design, analysis, and manufacturing of propulsion systems at our Yatala facility, collaborating with a skilled team to push the boundaries of space exploration in Australia.

The role involves CAD modeling, system testing, procedure development, and hands-on support across fabrication, assembly, and integration

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline is required.
• NV1 Security Clearance eligible preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, analysis & manufacturing of propulsion systems including engines, fluid systems and GSE & infrastructure.
• Develop CAD models and drawings.
• Support commissioning & testing of propulsion systems.
• Assist and develop written procedures and checklists for test & commissioning operations, and support test teams as required.
• Assist and coordinate fabrication, assembly and integration of propulsion systems.
• Support design and testing of propulsion systems including data analysis.
• Perform other duties as requested by Management.

How you will contribute to our mission in getting Australia to space:

• Assist in the design, analysis & manufacturing of propulsion systems including engines, fluid systems and GSE & infrastructure


• Develop CAD models and drawings.


• Support commissioning & testing of propulsion systems


• Assist and develop written procedures and checklists for performing test & commissioning operations, and support test teams as required.


• Assist the development of written procedures for manufacturing components


• Assist and coordinate the fabrication, assembly and integration of propulsion systems


• Support the design and testing of propulsion systems including data analysis


• Perform other duties as requested by Management

Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Bachelors (BS) degree in an Engineering discipline


• NV1 Security Clearance eligible preferred


• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications


• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a part of a team

Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Experience with CAD designing parts and assemblies


• Experience using commercial FEA or Multiphysics simulation package (ANSYS preferred or NASTRAN, ABAQUS, CFD codes, etc.)


• Hands-on hardware experience performing fabrication, assembly, integration and testing
