Job summary

Bitek Pty Ltd is expanding its Canberra-based sales team and seeking an Account Manager to own ACT and parts of NSW. You will manage a portfolio of specialist trade and wholesale customers, build lasting relationships face-to-face, and uncover new business opportunities with tailored product and service solutions.

This field-based role focuses on relationship management with a hunter mindset, requiring resilience, persistence and proactive outreach.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in Account Management, BDM or Sales, preferably within wholesale or trade.
• Proven ability to generate new business and grow existing accounts.
• Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to develop genuine customer partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Manage, retain and grow a portfolio of trade and wholesale accounts.
• Build strong, genuine, long-term customer relationships through regular face-to-face visits, supported by phone and email.
• Become a trusted partner to customers by understanding their businesses, challenges and opportunities.
• Identify and win new business within existing accounts and through active prospecting.
• Prospect confidently, make cold calls and develop new customer relationships.
• Prepare, present and follow up on quotes, proposals and pricing enquiries, ensuring accuracy, competitiveness and timeliness.
• Provide tailored product advice and technical support aligned with customer needs.
• Maintain strong knowledge of products, pricing and promotions and communicate these effectively to customers.
• Monitor customer buying patterns, competitor activity and market trends and share relevant insights with internal teams.
• Work closely with sales support, warehouse and purchasing teams to ensure smooth order fulfilment and customer satisfaction.
• Maintain accurate CRM/ERP records, including visit notes, pricing and account activity — this is non-negotiable.
• Ensure all sales activities comply with company policies, including pricing and discounting guidelines.
• Handle customer issues professionally and take ownership of achieving timely, positive outcomes.
• Represent Bitek at client sites, industry events and trade shows.
• Provide in-branch support when required, including assisting with stock takes and team coverage.
