Be the friendly, professional Voice and Face of St Vincent’s Hospital, welcoming and assisting patients, staff, and the public over the phone. Take charge in urgent situations, responding confidently to emergencies, contacting the Mental Health Crisis Team, and liaising with Security when needed. Provide compassionate support to callers experiencing distress, including challenges with drugs, alcohol, or mental health issues. Keep critical hospital Switchboard operations running smoothly by managing and updating medical rosters, directories, and administrative systems. Enjoy a dynamic, 7-day rotating roster that may include day, evening, overnight shifts, with your main focus as Sacred Heart Receptionist (7:00 am – 8:30 pm daily).
Experienced and confident in challenging environments, with the ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations. Switchboard/contact centre or receptionist experience highly regarded, with strong skills in managing calls and enquiries professionally. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to manage difficult situations and provide exceptional patient service independently. Decision-makers under pressure, able to implement emergency procedures accurately and maintain calm in high-stress situations. Professional and adaptable, well-presented with the ability to engage with staff, patients, and the public, and flexible to work night shifts as part of a rotating roster.
