Job summary

Optus is seeking a Principal Technical Specialist to define and drive the architectural direction of our Telco IP Core and IP Modernisation initiatives. You will influence across Network Engineering, governance, and external partners while guiding strategic programs and standards.

You will lead technical reviews, mentor senior engineers, and engage with vendors to assess solutions against architecture principles. A senior, strategic contributor role with broad impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor level or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience leading complex engineering solutions and large projects.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS and routing & switching.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive architectural direction for Telco IP Core and IP Modernisation programs.
• Lead architecture governance through guidelines and review boards.
• Provide authoritative technical guidance to Engineering, Architecture and Operations teams.
• Engage with vendors and partners to evaluate solutions against guidelines.
• Mentor engineers and build technical capability through playbooks and communities of practice.
• Represent Network Engineering in cross-functional technical forums.
