Job summary

Optus is seeking a Principal Technical Specialist, Telco IP Core to define and drive the architectural direction of the Telco IP Core and IP Modernisation programs. You will provide technical leadership across Network Engineering and represent the function in cross-functional forums.

You will chair reviews, guide standards, and mentor engineers while engaging with vendors to assess evolving technologies for strategic alignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or EE required.
• 5+ years IP core engineering with leadership experience.
• Strong TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS routing and switching knowledge.
• Experience in architecture governance and standards.
• Familiarity with emergency services requirements (E000) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive architectural direction for Telco IP Core programs.
• Develop and enforce architectural guidelines and standards.
• Lead cross-group technical governance and review boards.
• Provide technical guidance toEngineering, Architecture and Operations teams.
• Engage with vendors and technology partners to assess solutions.
• Mentor senior engineers and build capability across teams.
