Job summary

Mission Australia is seeking a Technology Resilience and Availability Manager to join our Information Security & GRC team on a 12-month contract in Sydney with work-from-home options. You will design, develop and operationalise an end-to-end Technology Portfolio Business Continuity capability, refreshing the BCP and BIAs and coordinating recovery exercises across critical systems and vendors.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in business continuity and operational resilience in complex, multi-site organisations.
• Experience leading BIAs, BCP development, scenario testing and crisis exercises.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 22301, NIST CSF 2.0; vendor risk management.

Responsibilities

• Develop the lifecycle of the Technology Portfolio BCP and BIAs.
• Design and deliver our annual exercise program, incl. recovery exercises.
• Maintain updated BCP/BIAs reflecting ownership and dependencies.
• Lead third-party BCP assurance across vendors (ServiceNow, Microsoft, 8x8, AlayaCare, Workday, SOC partners).
• Provide assurance evidence and reporting to IT Execs and auditors.
• Build resilience capability through training, induction and exercise debriefs.

Your opportunity

We’re looking for a Technology Resilience and Availability Manager to join our Information Security & GRC team in a build-focused, 12-month contract role. Working with the Head of Information Security & GRC, you’ll design, develop and operationalise an end-to-end Technology Portfolio Business Continuity capability. This includes refreshing the Technology Portfolio Business Continuity Plan, maintaining a Business Impact Analysis across Technology, building recovery and exercising practices, and ensuring the organisation can prepare for, respond to and recover from disruptions to the technology services that support client and frontline operations. You’ll partner with key business areas and critical technology providers. You’ll also use automation, AI-assisted tooling and integrated data to reduce manual effort, improve assurance and create a repeatable, well-documented capability that can be transitioned confidently to business-as-usual at the end of the contract.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• Develop the lifecycle of the Technology Portfolio BCP and supporting BIAs, aligned to ISO 22301:2019 and the NIST CSF 2.0 Respond & Recover functions.
• Design and deliver our annual exercise program, including at least one recovery exercise for Tier 1 systems and tabletop scenarios (including cyber-driven disruption).
• Maintain updated BCP/BIAs and ensure plans reflect current ownership, applications and dependencies.
• Lead third-party BCP assurance across critical vendors (ServiceNow, Microsoft, 8x8, AlayaCare, Workday, key infra and SOC partners).
• Provide assurance evidence and reporting to IT Execs and internal/external auditors.
• Build resilience capability through training, induction and exercise debriefs.

Requirements for success

• 5+ years' experience in business continuity and operational resilience in complex, multi-site organisations — NFP, regulated or critical-services experience highly regarded.
• Demonstrated experience leading BIAs, BCP development, scenario testing and crisis exercises.
• Strong working knowledge of ISO 22301, NIST CSF 2.0, and integration between BC, DR, IR and Crisis Management.
• Experience embedding continuity into change initiatives, vendor management and third-party risk programs.
• Confident communicator able to engage frontline teams through to ELT and Board.
• Tertiary qualifications in IT, Risk, Business or related discipline.
• Highly desirable: MBCI/CBCI, ISO 22301 Lead Implementer, CBCP (DRII), CISM, CRISC or ITIL v4.
• Familiarity with BC tooling.
• Comfortable in fast-paced, change-heavy environments — pragmatic, action-oriented, and accountable.
• Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
