Align Talent Pty Ltd is partnering with an established organisation that is moving to an outsourced technology model. The Technology Operations Lead will guide the transition, with a MSP taking on IT operations and cyber security, while maintaining day-to-day tech delivery under the GM of Technology.

The role focuses on managing the provider relationship, governance, incident coordination and progress reporting to senior leadership, with Melbourne CBD hybrid working.

Qualifications

• Experience overseeing cyber security within a broader tech remit.

Technology Operations Lead (Day Rate Contract)
We’re partnering with an established organisation that is moving to an outsourced technology model.

This contract is focused on leading that transition. A managed service provider will take on both IT operations and cyber security, and you'll help finalise and kick off that arrangement while keeping day-to-day technology running in the meantime. You'll report directly to the GM of Technology.

Most of your time will go into the provider relationship - setting expectations early, managing escalations, coordinating incidents and making sure what was agreed is what gets delivered. You'll also keep operational controls and asset governance on track, and report on progress and service performance to senior leadership.

This is a role for someone who has managed an MSP before and knows infrastructure, end-user technology and cyber well enough to challenge a provider on the detail. You measure success by whether the outcome landed, not by how much you fixed yourself.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the transition of IT operations and cyber security to a managed service provider
• Own the operational relationship with the provider and hold them accountable for agreed service levels
• Keep day-to-day technology services running smoothly throughout the transition
• Lead service reviews, escalations and major incident coordination
• Make sure operational controls are in place for monitoring, patching, backup and recovery
• Oversee technology asset and lifecycle governance
• Work with Engineering, Data and the outsourced cyber provider to keep services secure and fit for purpose
• Report on transition progress, service performance and risks to senior leadership

About you

• Comfortable holding a supplier to account without taking the work back in-house
• Technically credible enough to question what you're being told
• Comfortable in a changing environment, and able to keep things steady while the model shifts around you
• Calm under pressure, with strong escalation and stakeholder skills
• Organised and structured, with a practical improvement mindset
• Commercially aware, particularly around licensing and supplier value

Essential experience

• Hands-on experience managing an MSP and holding them to account (non-negotiable)
• A strong infrastructure or end-user technology background (non-negotiable)
• Experience overseeing cyber security as part of a broader technology remit
• Solid working knowledge of incident, problem, change and service-level management
• Practical knowledge of Microsoft 365, endpoint management and identity
• Experience leading a move to managed services is highly regarded
