Job summary

National Wireless Pty Ltd – Beresfield NSW is seeking a technically solid Senior/Lead Technician to oversee field and depot-based services. You will balance complex technical work with mentoring a small team of skilled technicians in radio, microwave and wireless systems.

You will lead installation, testing, and maintenance, provide high-level support and ensure safety, quality and regulatory compliance on site. This is a hands-on leadership role with growth opportunities across the business.

Qualifications

• Minimum proven history as Senior/Lead Technician in Radio (LMR/PMR), Microwave, Wireless Networks or Telecoms.
• Strong supervisory capabilities with ability to mentor and lead field deployments.
• Advanced technical qualifications in radio/telecoms and track record of quickly mastering new tech.

Responsibilities

• Lead from the front in field, including installation, configuration, testing and maintenance of advanced radio systems.
• Provide high-level technical support and troubleshooting for complex integrations and ensure standards are met.
• Mentor junior and intermediate technicians and ensure safety and compliance.
• Maintain high client satisfaction through delivering quality technical outcomes and on-site trust.
• Assist with technical scoping, site surveys, and provide accurate assessments for proposals.
• Oversee day-to-day field activities, ensuring efficiency, safety and regulatory compliance.

The Role

Reporting to the General Manager, you will serve as the technical lead for our field and depot based services team. This is a highly collaborative, hands-on role where you will balance complex technical execution with the mentorship of a small team of skilled technicians.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Leading from the front in the field, overseeing and executing the installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of advanced radio and wireless communications systems.
• Providing high-level technical support and troubleshooting for complex system integrations, ensuring all work meets rigorous industry and company standards.
• Mentoring and guiding junior and intermediate technicians, assisting with their technical development and ensuring team safety and compliance.
• Upholding a high level of client satisfaction by delivering exceptional technical outcomes and building trust on-site.
• Assisting with technical scoping, site surveys, and providing accurate assessments to support the preparation of quotations and proposals.
• Ensuring all day-to-day field activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with both National Wireless' and the customer's safety and statutory requirements.

Criteria

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

• A proven history as a Senior Technician or Lead Technician in Radio (LMR/PMR), Microwave, Wireless Networks, Telecommunications, or Electrical Engineering.
• Strong supervisory capabilities, with a natural ability to mentor peers and lead field deployments effectively.
• Advanced technical qualifications in the radio or telecommunications industry and a track record of quickly mastering new technologies and complex systems.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills with a diagnostic mindset for resolving intricate hardware and network issues.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a consultative approach to explaining technical solutions clearly to clients.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills for documenting technical reports and collaborating with management.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and maintain high-quality standards in fast-paced environments.
