KAUP AUSTRALIA PTY LTD is seeking a technically minded Technical Sales Representative to cover Victoria and Tasmania. In this hands-on role you will manage dealer networks, grow sales, and provide practical solutions for material handling challenges.
You’ll visit dealers and end users, present products, offer technical advice and support, and travel interstate as needed. A current driver’s licence and the ability to work independently are essential.
Great with people? Mechanically minded? Looking for something different?
Turn your technical knowledge and people skills into a rewarding sales career
We are a well-established manufacturer of high-quality hydraulic attachments and material handling solutions, seeking a motivated, technically minded person to manage and grow our Victoria and Tasmania territory.
You’ll work with an established network of forklift dealers, develop new business opportunities and help customers find practical solutions to their material handling challenges.
Whether you’re an experienced technical salesperson, forklift technician, service adviser or mechanic ready for a new challenge, we’d like to hear from you.
The opportunity
This is a hands‑on, customer‑facing sales role where technical knowledge and strong relationships make the difference.
You’ll be responsible for maintaining existing dealer relationships, identifying new opportunities and growing sales across your territory.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing forklift dealers.
Identifying new business opportunities and developing customer relationships.
Visiting dealers and end users to understand their equipment requirements and recommend suitable solutions.
Providing product presentations, technical advice and practical problem‑solving support.
Assisting with basic troubleshooting and minor service‑related checks when required.
Managing your territory, developing sales opportunities and achieving individual sales targets.
You’ll have the autonomy to plan your schedule and manage your territory, with most customer activity across metropolitan Melbourne.
Occasional interstate travel is required.
About you
We’re looking for the right person, not just the right résumé.
You may already be working in technical sales, or you could come from a mechanical, forklift or service background and be ready to put your knowledge and people skills to work in a different way.
What matters most is that you:
Enjoy working with people and building long‑term relationships.
Are confident starting conversations and developing opportunities.
Are self‑motivated, organised and comfortable working independently.
Have a practical, solution‑focused approach to customer challenges.
Have strong mechanical or technical understanding.
Have the initiative and drive to take ownership of your territory and achieve results.
Experience with forklifts, material handling equipment, hydraulics or industrial machinery would be highly regarded.
Previous sales experience is an advantage, but not essential. We’re equally interested in technically skilled people who have the communication skills, initiative and motivation to succeed in a customer‑facing sales role.
Training and support
We don’t expect you to know everything from day one.
You’ll receive comprehensive product training, ongoing sales mentoring and a structured on boarding period to help you develop the knowledge, confidence and skills needed to succeed.
What’s on offer?
$80,000–$100,000 base salary + superannuation, depending on experience and capability.
Performance bonuses linked to achieving individual sales budget milestones.
$20,000 annual car allowance, plus mobile phone, laptop and tablet.
Comprehensive product training, sales mentoring and structured on boarding.
Established dealer relationships — you’ll have an existing customer network to build upon.
High-quality, respected products you’ll be confident representing.
Autonomy and flexibility to manage your territory, with work‑from‑home flexibility.
A supportive, close‑knit team where you’re valued as an individual and your contribution makes a difference.
Applicants must have:
A current, valid driver’s licence.
The legal right to live and work in Australia.
The ability to undertake customer site visits and occasional interstate travel.
Ready for your next challenge?
If you enjoy understanding how things work, building relationships and finding solutions, this could be a great opportunity to put your skills to work in a different way.
You bring the technical aptitude, people skills and drive. We’ll provide the product training, sales mentoring and support to help you succeed.
Whether you’re looking to progress your technical sales career or make the move from a hands‑on mechanical role, we’d welcome your application.
