Job summary

NEPEAN Conveyors NSW is seeking a Technical Sales Engineer/Estimator to join our team at either Gulgong or Unanderra facilities. This full-time role works with project managers, engineers and fabricators on diverse mining and materials handling projects.

You will build close client relationships, prepare detailed quotes, and develop technical solutions at tender stage while coordinating with workshop teams to ensure accurate costings and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Tertiary or trade qualification in Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong understanding of heavy industry fabrications, machining and fitting processes.
• Sound conveyor knowledge.
• Sound knowledge of 3D and 2D drafting packages is advantageous.
• Outstanding attention to detail.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop close relationships with key accounts to ensure needs are met.
• Assist in developing technical solutions at tender stage for fast turnaround.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for fabrication and machining.
• Liaise with workshop supervisors, engineers and suppliers.
• Source and obtain quotes for materials and subcontract work.
• Prepare quotations and tender submissions.
• Analyse project risks and profitability.
• Achieve sales targets by developing new business with clients.
• Assist in setting sales budgets and strategy.
• Monitor market trends through client and supplier contacts.
• Communicate field intelligence at industry meetings.
• Estimate cost of supplying core products and systems.
• Run sales level conveyor calculations for upfront equipment selection.

The Opportunity

To support our ongoing growth, NEPEAN Conveyors NSW are currently seeking a Technical Sales Engineer/Estimator to join our team. This position is a full-time permanent opportunity, based in our design and manufacturing facilities in either Gulgong, or Unanderra NSW.

In this facility we work within a team of project managers, engineers, designers and fabricators on projects large and small.

What you'll be doing

• Maintain and develop close relationships with key accounts and ensure their requirements are being made by the company’s products where possible
• Assist in developing new and strategic technical solutions at the tender stage to ensure fast turnaround
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for fabrication and machining jobs
• Liaise with workshop supervisors, engineers, and suppliers
• Source and obtain quotes for materials and subcontract work
• Prepare quotations and tender submissions
• Analyse project risks and profitability
• Achieve sales targets of allocated territory/product by developing new business with existing and potential clients
• Assist in the determination of the overall sales budget and strategy
• Actively monitor market trends through personal contact with clients and suppliers and attendance at industry association meetings and seminars
• Recommend variations in product, formulation or package design and participate in regular production and sales meetings to communicate field intelligence
• Participate in setting strategies and determining business plans related to assigned products or customers
• Appraise current and planned customer needs and advise on the application of company products or services to customer requirements
• Estimate cost of supplying NEPEAN Conveyors core products and systems to client
• Run sales level conveyor calculations to assist in upfront selection of equipment

About you

The ideal candidate for this position would have:

• Tertiary and/or trade qualification in Engineering or related discipline.
