Job summary

Defence Housing Australia in Parramatta is seeking a Technical Construction Officer to deliver housing outcomes across Australia. You will provide specialist advice on residential construction, upgrades and heritage projects, and support DHA's acquisition and leasing programs.

You will help resolve complex building maintenance issues, manage builders' defects, and provide trusted technical guidance to regional teams.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver Licence and White Card required.
• Baseline Vetting security clearance required.
• Australian citizenship required to obtain security clearance.

DHA was established in 1988 following passage of the Defence Housing Australia Act 1987 (DHA Act) to provide adequate and suitable housing for, and housing related services to, members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and their families. We remain committed to our purpose of providing housing, and housing related services, to ADF members and their families to support Defence’s operational needs.

DHA manages an expanding portfolio of housing solutions and provides housing for over 17,200 ADF members and their families and administers rent allowance for more than 16,000 ADF members and their families in private rental accommodation. DHA provides housing related services advising on eligibility, providing posting support, and managing bookings and allocation services for all DHA provisioned housing and on-base accommodation to approximately 60,000 ADF members.

As part of the Service Delivery team, Asset Management function, you will help your broader team meet their delivery objectives for high-quality housing services, including maintenance services, stock management, and contractor performance.

The Asset Management function is responsible for the delivery of construction, maintenance, upgrades and heritage programs. As a member the Technical, Heritage, Upgrades & Defects (THUD) Team, you will provide technical support to the Asset Management function and other DHA staff.

About the role

As a Technical Construction Officer, you'll play a key role in delivering quality housing outcomes for Defence members and their families across Australia. Drawing on your technical expertise, you'll provide specialist advice to Project Managers on residential construction, upgrade and heritage projects, while supporting DHA's acquisition and leasing programs. You'll also help resolve complex building maintenance issues, manage builders' defects, and provide trusted technical guidance to regional teams.
