Job summary

Nextpower is seeking a Technical Adviser to coordinate between the Project Manager and customers, ensuring high-quality field installations and exceptional service. Qualifications

  • 5 Years construction industry experience, at least 2 at supervisory level.
  • A good working understanding of Australian WHS regulations, especially regarding the construction industry.
  • Construction-industry induction (white card).
  • Basic First Aid + CPR training (mandatory).
  • Proficient with general construction tools and techniques (laser levels, hand tools, air and pneumatic tools, torqueing, QA).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; MS Office proficiency; willingness to learn NEXTracker systems.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure own safety and safety of others on site, following WHS policies.
  • Provide technical support across Australia to ensure best-in-class customer experience.
  • Translate construction plans and documents to support installation of NEXTracker products.
  • Support project schedule forecasting and daily site activity reporting.
  • Conduct QA inspections of piling and tracker construction and report deviations.
  • Liaise with Customer and PM to resolve product quality issues via NCR/RMA processes.
  • Assist with commissioning readiness and coordinate commissioning with PM and Manager.
  • Guide and support customers and subcontractors on tool operations, maintenance and training.

Summary of Role

The Technical Adviser’s goal is to coordinate between the Project Manager and the Customer and assist with the successful construction of NEXTracker products. The TA will facilitate a positive experience with NEXTracker by providing excellent customer service. The TA ensures that NEXTracker’s products and field services out-perform customer expectations and are of the highest quality possible. The TA develops customer loyalty by optimizing the product to the Customer’s needs and providing great onsite technical support services for the NEXTracker product.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for your own safety, and care and shared responsibility for the safety of all co-workers on site. A good understanding of WHS principles and construction site safety is required
  • Adherence to all WHS safety regulations and NEXTracker and Customer WHS Policy & Process. Ensures no NEXTracker employee or subcontractor operations proceed without proper safety compliance.
  • Provides technical support for NEXTracker customers across Australia, ensuring a best in class customer experience and providing product and systems expertise to the Customer.
  • Translate and interpret construction plans, manuals, part number reference lists, technical bulletins, product change notifications and other documents to support construction and installation of NEXTracker products.
  • Responsible party for participating in, documenting and reporting safety meetings, together with the PM
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with PM, and Customer PM, Construction Manager, Site Supervisor, Quality team and other customer staff
  • Work with Project Manager to develop accurate construction schedule forecasts and to create daily reports to track construction progress, material deliveries, installation issues, tool issues and others site activity.
  • Conduct systematic QA inspections of piling and tracker construction in accordance with QA process, tracking, reporting and closing out all deviations via Construction Deviation Report process.
  • Liaise between Customer, PM and Quality teams to report and resolve any NEXTracker product quality issues via NCR and RMA processes.
  • Work with the Customer to assess readiness for commissioning via Pre-Commissioning processes, and coordinate Commissioning process with the PM and Commissioning Manager
  • Provide guidance and technical support to the NEXTracker personnel, temporary labor and subcontractors on issues concerning mechanical, electrical and construction issues
  • Provide guidance and advice to Customers on tool operations, maintenance and servicing, and coordinate tool service and training between Customer and our suppliers
Experience, Qualities and Qualifications
Essential
  • 5 Years construction industry experience, at least 2 at supervisory level
  • A good working understanding of Australian WHS regulations, especially regarding the construction industry
  • Construction industry induction (white card)
  • Basic First Aid + CPR training (will be provided if not held already – mandatory)
  • The physical health, fitness and ability to carry out the responsibilities described above
  • Willingness to undergo health and drug/alcohol screening as required for Project site access
  • Good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in a heavy construction context
  • Proficient with general construction tools and techniques (laser levels, hand tools, air and pneumatic tools, torqueing, quality assurance etc)
  • Detail oriented, with good basic mathematical ability and problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter, with ability to work independently, along with strong desire and ability to promote teamwork and achieving team goals
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to build strong customer relationships
  • Positive, friendly, enthusiastic attitude – TAs are the face of NEXTracker to our customers in the field and must represent us well
  • Experience in and talent for dealing with customer support issues
  • Understanding of project management techniques and experience in delivering construction-related projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and willingness to develop proficiency in NEXTracker systems
  • Extensive travel required – this role is up to 100% field based, with the requirement that TAs travel to sometimes remote sites and live away from home for extended periods
Preferred
  • Passion for solar or renewable energy
  • Strong knowledge of PV technology and its applications
  • Hands-on experience with photovoltaic tracking solar systems a plus
  • Electrical or mechanical engineering qualifications
