Job summary

Latitude IT is seeking a hands-on engineering leader to join on a hybrid basis in Australia. You will assume ownership of architecture, sprint cadence, and day-to-day delivery for a small cross-functional team of developers and analysts, heading a broader cloud-native migration from a legacy system.

You will guide requirements decomposition, drive delivery, and work closely with a security specialist. Expect to balance hands-on coding a portion of your week with strategic leadership across

Qualifications

• Production experience with React on the front end and Node.js/TypeScript on the back end, working against a PostgreSQL database.
• Real world AWS experience, ideally with ECS, running containerised services rather than a handful of Lambda functions.
• Experience migrating a legacy or on-premise application to the cloud, ideally using a strangler pattern.

Responsibilities

• Reporting to the CTO, take over architecture calls, sprint planning and day-to-day technical guidance for a small team.
• Own architecture evolution and migration strategy with business case and cost analysis.
• Steer the strangler pattern migration, replacing legacy in slices over time.
• Spend most time on requirements decomposition, sprint planning and guiding junior developers.
• Collaborate with a security specialist, enabling secure delivery without owning security end-to-end.
