Job summary

January Capital seeks a driven, technically grounded investor to join its AI & software investing team in Australia. You will support sourcing, diligence, and post-investment value creation, evaluating founders, product, tech stacks and market fit.

The role offers the chance to develop AI-native tooling and workflows, improving data-led investment decisions and portfolio management across Australia and APAC.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or postgraduate degree in CS/AI/DS/Engineering.
• 2–8+ years in technical founder roles, software/AI/ML, or tech investing.
• Experience with cutting-edge AI tools and platforms.
• Proven ability to write and communicate clearly; show portfolio/writing samples.

Responsibilities

• Source and lead investments in early-stage software/AI across Australia & APAC.
• Conduct technical and commercial diligence on product architecture, team, usage metrics and GTM.
• Develop theses in developer tooling, SaaS infrastructure, applied AI.
• Build internal AI-forward tools to support decision making and portfolio management.
• Engage with founders and researchers across SEA, Australia, US and China.
• Support portfolio post-investment on strategy, talent, and customer access.
• Contribute to firm-building activities (content, events, knowledge infra).
