Job summary

Downer's Energy & Utilities is seeking a hands-on Team Member to perform gas, civil and utility maintenance and construction across field sites. You will participate in emergency response, operate tools/equipment safely and ensure records are completed accurately, while delivering high-quality service to the public.

Ideal candidates hold relevant licences and a gas operations qualification, with a focus on safety, teamwork and practical field experience in utilities and construction.

Qualifications

• Current unrestricted Driver's Licence.
• Medium or Heavy Rigid Truck Licence.
• Practical mechanical aptitude with tools and equipment.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality and environmental standards.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to use mobile technology and field tablets.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

The Opportunity

Join Downer's SA Maintenance & Support Services team and help maintain the essential gas infrastructure that keeps communities connected.

As a Team Member, you'll complete a range of gas, civil and utility works, including planned maintenance, construction activities and emergency response. Working within a supportive field-based team, you'll contribute to the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of services, with a strong focus on Zero Harm and customer service.

This hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys outdoor work, takes pride in quality workmanship and works well as part of a team.

Key responsibilities include:

• Completing gas, civil and utility maintenance and construction activities.
• Participating in emergency response activities, including an after-hours roster.
• Operating tools, plant and equipment safely and effectively.
• Working in accordance with Downer's Zero Harm, environmental and quality standards.
• Completing job records, timesheets and required documentation accurately.
• Delivering excellent customer service while working in public environments.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a motivated, safety-focused individual with a strong work ethic and practical, hands-on experience.

Essential:

• Current unrestricted Driver's Licence.
• Medium or Heavy Rigid Truck Licence.
• Practical mechanical aptitude and experience using tools and equipment.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality and environmental standards.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to use mobile technology, tablets and computer-based systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Certificate II or III in Gas Operations, or currently working towards a Certificate II.
• Excavator Licence.
• Experience in utilities such as gas, water, telecommunications or power.
• Field-based construction or maintenance experience.
• Emergency response or on-call roster experience.
