Job summary

Cumberland Council is seeking a Team Member in Cleansing to maintain public areas across the Cumberland City Council area, with a focus on quick response and quality results. The role requires a minimum of two years' maintenance experience and a valid Class C licence along with relevant traffic and safety accreditations.

Based at Auburn Depot with travel to various sites, the position offers a 70-hour fortnight, 9-day rostered day off, and a competitive salary under NSW Local Government Award.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in general maintenance duties.
  • Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships with peers, customers and community organisations and an ability to work as part of a team with good interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate a strong customer focus with sound customer service skills and the ability to embrace a system of change and continual improvement.
  • Current Class C driver's licence.
  • Be able to operate multiple cleansing plant (high pressure units, blowers).
  • Current Traffic Control and Traffic Management Implementer card (also known as Traffic Control Combo course).
  • General Construction Induction Card (White card).
  • AQF3 'ChemCert' Chemical Accreditation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the daily presentation of the public domain within Cumberland City Council area.
  • Respond quickly to cleansing needs and ensure areas meet community expectations.
  • Support a safe, efficient cleansing program across multiple worksites.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Cleansing team focuses on managing the daily presentation of the public domain within the Cumberland City Area, ensuring that it is maintained and presented so that residents and visitors are proud of the area and it meets their expectations.

In contributing to the overarching vision, the Team Member Cleansing Crew will ensure Council's Local Government area is maintained to a level that meets the communities' expectations through a quick response program utilising the industry's best practice.

About this role:
  • Permanent, full-time position
  • 70 hour fortnight
  • Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Rostered Day Off (RDO) arrangement
  • Located at Council's Auburn Depot, with frequent travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council's work locations

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 4 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,140.67 to $1,397.32 per week, plus 12% superannuation
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
What you'll need to have for this role:
  • The right to live and work in Australia
  • Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
  • Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Council's Health Monitoring Procedure, as required.
