Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop frontline practitioners delivering trauma-informed and person-centred support to victim-survivors.
- Provide practice leadership, reflective supervision and debriefing to navigate complex matters.
- Support practitioners with risk and needs assessments, safety planning and complex case work.
- Create a psychologically safe team culture prioritising wellbeing and high-quality practice.
- Oversee workforce planning, rostering and real-time service operations for responsive delivery.
- Conduct coaching, probation and performance conversations to build capability.
- Act as escalation point for complex practice and operational matters with sound judgement.
- Monitor service quality and compliance with program requirements.
- Use insights and workforce data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Review and approve financial support packages to assist victim-survivors' safe transition.

We're growing our Leaving Violence Program and are looking for experienced Team Leaders to lead and support frontline practitioners working with victim-survivors of family, domestic and sexual violence.

The Leaving Violence Program provides financial and other support to individuals who have left, or are leaving, a partner who uses violence. It forms part of the Australian Government's commitment to ending gender-based violence.

As a Team Leader, you'll lead, coach and develop a team of frontline practitioners supporting victim-survivors through some of the most complex and vulnerable periods of their lives.
Reporting to the Service Operations Manager, you'll combine practice leadership, people leadership and operational oversight to enable your team to deliver safe, consistent and high-quality support.
You'll provide practice guidance, reflective supervision, debriefing and support with complex matters, while creating a psychologically safe environment where practitioners feel supported, capable and confident in their work.
You'll also play an important role in service quality, workforce planning and continuous improvement - using your frontline expertise to strengthen how the Leaving Violence Program supports victim-survivors nationally.

- Leading, coaching and developing a team of frontline practitioners delivering trauma-informed and person-centred support to victim-survivors.
- Providing practice leadership, reflective supervision and debriefing, helping practitioners safely navigate complex and sensitive matters.
- Supporting practitioners with risk and needs assessments, safety planning and complex case work.
- Creating a psychologically safe and supportive team culture where practitioner wellbeing, development and high-quality practice are prioritised.
- Managing workforce planning, rostering and real-time service operations to support responsive and effective service delivery.
- Conducting regular coaching, probation and performance conversations to build capability and support professional development.
- Acting as an escalation point for complex practice and operational matters, providing sound judgement and clear direction.
- Monitoring service quality, operational performance and compliance with program requirements.
- Using service insights and workforce data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and better outcomes for victim-survivors.
- Reviewing and approving financial support packages designed to assist victim-survivors to safely transition away from violence.
- Collaborating with operational leaders and key stakeholders to continuously strengthen the Leaving Violence Program.
You're an experienced social worker and people leader who understands the complexity of family, domestic and sexual violence and the importance of providing safe, trauma-informed and person-centred support.
You'll bring strong practice knowledge alongside the ability to lead people with empathy, confidence and sound professional judgement.
You'll ideally have:
- Demonstrated experience working within Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence (FDSV) services, with the capability to provide practice direction, advice, debriefing and supervision to frontline practitioners.
- Leadership or people management experience within FDSV, social work, community or human services.
- Strong knowledge of trauma-informed practice, risk and needs assessment, safety planning and person-centred service delivery.
- Demonstrated experience coaching, developing and supporting practitioners undertaking complex frontline work.
- The ability to foster psychological safety, practitioner wellbeing and a strong team culture.
- Confidence managing performance, providing constructive feedback and building practitioner capability.
- Strong professional judgement and the ability to make considered decisions in complex and sensitive situations.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience with workforce planning, virtual service delivery or contact centre operations will be highly regarded.
- Experience working within government-funded or regulated services will also be highly regarded.
Most importantly, you'll understand the realities of frontline FDSV practice and be passionate about creating an environment where practitioners are supported to deliver their best work.
- A recognised Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work.
Current membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). - Current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- Current National Police Check (NPC).
- Exposure to financial assistance programs or fraud management is desirable.
