Job summary

Domestic Violence NSW Service Management T/A Human & Co is seeking a DFV Worker for Crisis Support in Western Sydney. The fixed-term role runs from 1 November 2026 to 30 June 2027, four days per week, with flexibility based on experience.

Be the practical support a woman can count on in a crisis

Do you want to be there for women and children when they reach out for help, and make sure they get somewhere safe to sleep and the practical support they need to take the next step?

As a DFV Worker in our Crisis Support Service, you will support single women and women with children who are escaping domestic and family violence. Working alongside our DFV Practitioners, you will help women access immediate financial support, temporary accommodation and housing advocacy, and connect them with longer term housing options.

This is a fixed-term opportunity from 1 November 2026 to 30 June 2027 (8 months). The role is part-time (4 days per week) based in Western Sydney, working across our office and out in the community. Flexibility is available depending on candidate and experience levels.

What you will do

Direct support for women and their children:

• support women, with or without children, who are accessing temporary accommodation, couch surfing or at risk of homelessness in Western Sydney.
• build rapport with clients so that safety can be established and maintained as the first priority.
• support women to access short and medium term accommodation options, and act on immediate referrals to longer term support.
• respond to women’s mental health, safety and wellbeing needs as they are identified.
• meet mandatory reporting obligations when required.

Practical, day-to-day crisis response:

• organise and distribute immediate financial support, such as vouchers and emergency relief.
• arrange transport for clients where appropriate.
• complete the administration tasks required by intake and case management support.
• provide daily support to clients and assist the team with referrals and outreach support.

Work alongside the team and other services:

• support the co-working of client cases with DFV Practitioners and the wider DFV team.
• work with the stakeholders involved in a client’s support, including Homes NSW, health services, DCJ and Police.

Keep the record accurate:

• document case notes in CIMS and complete reports when required.
• record any changes to therapeutic case plans or safety plans completed by the DFV team.
• complete incident reports when needed.

Be part of the team:

• take part in team meetings and regular supervision.
• engage in learning and development and clinical supervision.
• work with the Service Manager and the team to support organisational goals and a positive team culture.
• take part in the on-call roster.

Who we are looking for

• experience working in the DFV sector, family services and/or women’s services.
• knowledge and understanding of gendered domestic and family violence, and the impact it has on women and children.
• an understanding of trauma informed and DFV informed practice in housing and accommodation support for women and children who have escaped DFV.
• awareness of risk and safety responses in DFV service delivery.
• experience working as part of a team.
• the flexibility to work in a crisis setting where priorities change through the day.

Qualifications and training

• Minimum Diploma in Community Services or Diploma in Counselling (essential). We also welcome applicants with a Diploma in Youth Work or a background in early education.
• Training in DFV and trauma informed practice (desirable).

Mandatory requirements

We have strict background checking to ensure the safety of our clients and children and young people. We will verify the below prior to commencement:

• NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC): You must hold or be able to obtain a valid NSW Working with Children Check clearance prior to commencement.
• National Police Check: A satisfactory National Police Check is required. Human & Co will arrange this prior to commencement.
• Qualification Check: Satisfactory qualification check of your relevant qualification. Human & Co will arrange this prior to commencement.
• NSW Driver Licence: You must hold a current unrestricted NSW driver licence. Transporting clients and travelling for outreach are a core part of this role.
