Job summary

Central Coast Council is seeking a Team Leader Visitor Economy to lead the day-to-day work of the Visitor Services team and support tourism marketing, industry services and destination initiatives across the Central Coast.

You will oversee high-quality projects, visitor information services, accreditation activities and stakeholder partnerships while creating a supportive, productive and customer-focused team environment.

Qualifications

• A degree in Tourism, Marketing, Business or related field, or demonstrated relevant experience.
• Extensive experience leading a visitor economy or tourism team in a high-volume customer service environment.
• Proven experience developing and evaluating tourism and destination management strategies.
• Strong leadership with coaching and developing teams to deliver customer-focused outcomes.
• Project and budget management experience delivering projects on time and within budget.
• High-level stakeholder engagement, communication and partnership skills.
• Knowledge of industry standards, legislative requirements and current trends.
• The ability to assess information, provide specialist advice and develop practical recommendations.

About the role

As Team Leader Visitor Economy, you will lead the day-to-day work of the Visitor Services team and support the delivery of tourism marketing, industry services and destination initiatives across the Central Coast. You will oversee high-quality projects, visitor information services, accreditation activities and stakeholder partnerships while creating a supportive, productive and customer-focused team environment.

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

Applicant Profile

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A degree qualification in Tourism, Marketing, Business or a related field, or demonstrated contemporary experience in a similar role supported by ongoing professional development
• Extensive experience leading a visitor economy or tourism team in a high-volume, multifaceted customer service environment
• Proven experience developing, implementing and evaluating tourism and destination management strategies with clear objectives and outcomes
• Strong leadership capability, with demonstrated success in coaching and developing teams to deliver quality, customer-focused outcomes
• Demonstrated project and budget management experience, including delivering projects on time and within budget
• High-level stakeholder engagement, communication, negotiation and partnership development skills
• Sound knowledge of relevant industry standards, legislative requirements, principles and current trends
• The ability to assess and interpret information, provide specialist advice and develop practical recommendations

The commencing salary for this position is up to $104K. Central Coast Council also provides progression opportunities for employees to progress up to the maximum salary of $121K on completion of assessment of skills and/ or performance plus 12% superannuation

• We have a permanent full-time role available
• This role will be able to access a 9 day fortnight
• This role is located primarily at the Visitors Information Centre, The Entrance but may be required to work at the Wyong Administration Building.
