Job summary

Fraser Coast Regional Council is seeking an experienced Team Leader to lead a field-based Parks Maintenance team delivering scheduled and reactive horticultural works across the Fraser Coast region. This hands-on leadership role coordinates daily operations, supports a positive team culture and ensures safe, efficient delivery of services.

You will manage staff, allocate work, provide technical guidance, ensure WHS compliance and maintain records in Council systems.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a field-based operational team.
• Proven ability to deliver horticultural maintenance programs to standards and timeframes.
• Strong knowledge of WHS requirements, risk management and safe work practices.
• Excellent communication with customers, contractors and stakeholders.

What we are looking for:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Team Leader to lead a field-based Parks Maintenance team delivering scheduled and reactive horticultural maintenance across parks, reserves, gardens and open spaces throughout the Fraser Coast region. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for coordinating daily operations, maintaining service standards, supporting a positive team culture and ensuring safe, efficient and customer-focused delivery of works.

What your day will look like:

• Lead and coordinate scheduled and reactive parks maintenance activities
• Allocate work, coach staff and support team performance and development
• Ensure compliance with WHS requirements, risk controls and safe work practices
• Provide technical guidance on horticultural maintenance, machinery and site issues
• Coordinate plant, equipment, materials and contractors to maximise efficiency
• Manage customer requests and maintain accurate records through Council systems

What you’ll need for success:

• Current Queensland MR Driver Licence
• Current AC/DC Chemical Distribution Licence
• Current General Construction Induction (White Card)
• Demonstrated experience leading a field-based operational team
• Proven experience delivering horticultural maintenance programs to required standards and timeframes
• Strong knowledge of WHS requirements, risk management and safe work practices
• Well-developed communication skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, contractors and internal stakeholders
• Ability to use mobile devices and works management systems to record work activities, timesheets and customer requests
