Job summary

Fraser Coast Regional Council is seeking a Team Leader to head a field-based Parks Maintenance team across the Fraser Coast region. This hands-on leadership role will coordinate scheduled and reactive horticultural work, ensuring high standards and safe, customer-focused delivery of services.

You will allocate work, coach staff, drive performance, and ensure WHS compliance. The role requires strong communication with customers, contractors and internal stakeholders, and the ability to use mobile

What we are looking for:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Team Leader to lead a field-based Parks Maintenance team delivering scheduled and reactive horticultural maintenance across parks, reserves, gardens and open spaces throughout the Fraser Coast region. This hands‑on leadership role is responsible for coordinating daily operations, maintaining service standards, supporting a positive team culture and ensuring safe, efficient and customer‑focused delivery of works.

What your day will look like:

• Lead and coordinate scheduled and reactive parks maintenance activities
• Allocate work, coach staff and support team performance and development
• Ensure compliance with WHS requirements, risk controls and safe work practices
• Provide technical guidance on horticultural maintenance, machinery and site issues
• Coordinate plant, equipment, materials and contractors to maximise efficiency
• Manage customer requests and maintain accurate records through Council systems

What you’ll need for success:

• Current Queensland MR Driver Licence
• Current AC/DC Chemical Distribution Licence
• Current General Construction Induction (White Card)
• Demonstrated experience leading a field-based operational team
• Proven experience delivering horticultural maintenance programs to required standards and timeframes
• Strong knowledge of WHS requirements, risk management and safe work practices
• Well‑developed communication skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, contractors and internal stakeholders
• Ability to use mobile devices and works management systems to record work activities, timesheets and customer requests

What’s nice to have:

• Certificate III in Horticulture or a related open space discipline
• First Aid Certificate
• Playground Inspection Certification
