Job summary

Fraser Coast Regional Council is seeking an experienced Horticulturist to maintain and enhance our parks, gardens and open spaces across Howard and the region.

Working within the Parks Maintenance team, you will deliver specialist horticultural expertise, undertake hands-on maintenance, and support planning and delivery of maintenance programs while contributing to high-quality service outcomes for the community.

Qualifications

• Current Queensland MR Driver Licence.
• AC/DC Chemical Distribution Licence.
• General Construction Induction (White Card).
• Certificate III in Horticulture (AQF Level 3) or related open space discipline.
• Demonstrated experience delivering horticultural maintenance in parks, gardens or open space environments.
• Experience in turf management, irrigation, planting, pruning and pest and disease management.
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to team outcomes.
• WHS, environmental and risk management knowledge.
• Well-developed communication skills and ability to provide technical horticultural advice.

Responsibilities

• Deliver scheduled and reactive horticultural maintenance across parks and open spaces.
• Undertake specialist horticultural activities including planting, pruning and turf management.
• Provide technical advice and support to team members on horticultural best practice.
• Assist with planning and refining maintenance programs to improve service delivery.
• Operate plant, equipment and vehicles in accordance with Council requirements.
• Accurately record completed works using Council's mobile works management systems.
