Job summary

Liverpool City Council is seeking a dynamic Team Leader for Library Collections to steer the development and delivery of library collections across six libraries, including the renowned Yellamundie Library and Gallery. The role emphasizes storytelling, diverse voices, and digital discovery to reflect community needs.

The position involves budget oversight, staff supervision, policy drafting, and promotional planning, with occasional night or weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Degree or postgraduate in Library and Information Studies or related discipline with eligibility for ALIA associate membership.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a public library/customer service environment.
• Experience leading a team and supervising staff.
• Experience formulating policies, procedures, programs and reporting processes.
• Ability to plan, resource and implement promotional activities in collection development.
• Experience building collections in various formats within budget limits.
• Strategic planning, budget management and service improvement ability.

Responsibilities

• Ensure consistent delivery and continuous improvement of library collections across all libraries.
• Build and maintain collections meeting community literacy and informational needs.
• Develop partnerships with suppliers and stakeholders.
• Support staff growth and maintain a collaborative, inclusive team culture.
• Cover front desk as needed, including occasional night/weekend shifts.
