Job summary

Toowoomba Regional Council is seeking a Team Leader for the Parks & Recreation fitness of open spaces. Lead a dynamic team, motivate staff, and supervise maintenance tasks to uphold high standards in council parks and gardens.

The role operates with remote supervision and offers development opportunities, salary sacrifices for super, and a range of staff benefits. A 9 day fortnight with a rostered day off applies.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Horticulture is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated horticultural experience or equivalent qualification.
• WHS competency (White Card) or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
• MR Class Driver’s Licence is highly desirable.
• ACDC Spraying Certificate is highly desirable.
• Traffic Management Level II is highly desirable.

BRING YOUR LEADERSHIP SKILLS TO A HORTICULTURE TEAM WITH GREAT LIFE/WORK BALANCE

• $1,350.67 gross per 38 hour week, plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.65% superannuation.
• Permanent Full time position based at our Greenmount Depot.
• Work a 9 day fortnight with a Rostered Day Off.

About Parks & Recreation

The Parks & Recreation Team are the secret behind the Toowoomba Region’s beautiful parks and gardens. With over 7000 hectares of public gardens, bushland park, sports and recreation facilities and other open space and an extensive urban forest, the Toowoomba region is well known for its liveability and green infrastructure. The Parks and Recreation Services Branch is responsible for planning, developing and maintaining our beautiful green infrastructure, some of which is heritage listed, and keeping up with the strong growth across the region. The team is a diverse mix of approximately 200 people working as labourers, gardeners, arborists, horticulturalists, plant operators, rangers, cleaners, project managers, landscape architects, administrators, regulators and their managers and leaders.

About the position

As Team Leader, you will lead a dynamic team dedicated to enhancing and maintaining parks, ensuring the highest standards of quality and functionality. Operating with minimal supervision, you will lead, motivate, and supervise your team in executing a diverse range of maintenance tasks, with a primary focus on Council's formal open spaces.

In this position, you will operate under remote supervision.

What you'll bring

• Certificate III in Horticulture is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated horticultural experience, or equivalent qualification and experience relevant to this position.
• Current ‘MR’ Class Driver’s Licence is highly desirable.
• Agricultural Chemicals Distribution Control (ACDC) Spraying Certificate is highly desirable.
• WHS Competency (White Card) for CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry, or equivalent, or a willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
• Chainsaw Crosscut Level 2 is desirable.
• Traffic Management Implementation Level II Certificate is highly desirable.
• Leadership and teamwork skills.
