Job summary

Somerset College is seeking a Teacher – Learning Enhancement (Junior School) to join our Learning Enhancement team on the Gold Coast. This role focuses on inclusive practices, targeted intervention and developing individualised learning plans for students from Pre-Prep to Year 6.

You will collaborate with teachers, families and external professionals to implement evidence-based strategies, monitor progress and contribute to a culture where every student thrives.

Qualifications

• Current Queensland College of Teachers registration.
• Relevant teaching qualifications and demonstrated teaching experience.
• Experience supporting students with additional learning needs and delivering adjusted learning programs.

Responsibilities

Teacher - Learning Enhancement (Junior School)

Somerset College is seeking a Teacher – Learning Enhancement (Junior School) to join our Learning Enhancement team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and student-centred educator who is committed to inclusive education and supporting students with diverse learning needs. Working collaboratively with teachers, families and external professionals, you will provide targeted intervention, tailored learning support and evidence-based strategies that enable students to engage confidently with their learning.

Supporting students across Pre-Prep to Year 6, you will play an important role in developing individualised learning plans, monitoring progress and fostering positive educational outcomes. Through meaningful collaboration and proactive support, you will contribute to a culture where every student is empowered to thrive.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Working as part of a collaborative Learning Enhancement team, you will support student learning, wellbeing and achievement through inclusive teaching practices and targeted intervention.

Teach and support students with diagnosed additional learning needs across Pre-Prep to Year 6.

Develop, implement and monitor targeted intervention programs and individualised learning plans.

Monitor student progress and use assessment data to inform teaching and support strategies.

Support student transitions across year levels and stages of learning.

Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop personalised adjustments and differentiated learning approaches.

Coordinate and support Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments (AARA) processes as required.

Assist with diagnostic assessments, standardised testing and data collection activities.

Contribute to NCCD processes, verification documentation and student support records.

Engage positively with parents, carers, external specialists and multidisciplinary teams.

Review and interpret specialist reports to inform educational planning and support.

Maintain accurate student records and learning documentation.

Remain current with research and best practice in inclusive education.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Current Queensland College of Teachers registration.

Relevant teaching qualifications and demonstrated teaching experience.

Experience supporting students with additional learning needs and delivering adjusted learning programs.

Knowledge of inclusive education practices, intervention strategies and differentiated teaching.

Experience working within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework.

The ability to analyse assessment data and develop targeted learning plans.

Understanding of NCCD requirements and disability funding processes.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with students, families, colleagues and external professionals.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.

Experience within the International Baccalaureate (IB/MYP) framework and/or Multilit programs will be highly regarded.

Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
