The School Castlereagh School is a specialist Education Support School for students K‑12 with disability and high support needs. Castlereagh’s staff motivate learning in children and young adults aged four to 18 in a vibrant, nurturing, educational environment. Whilst we foster academic skills through the Western Australian & ABLEWA Curriculums, we place great value on communication, connection, belonging, predictability and engagement. We regard every student to be an individual with their unique strengths, needs and learning preferences. Our students have diverse communication needs and seek alternative access to curricula and post school learning opportunities. Their needs are provided for with a well‑balanced educational experience with a literacy, numeracy, communications and independence focus. Communication underpins everything we do, and we take great pride in seeing every student blossom.
Our teachers provide students with rigorous, meaningful and engaging experiences which encourage every student to learn and to grow. We build high expectations for learning in teachers, parents and students. Castlereagh School teachers are encouraged to commit to high level collaboration as part of the whole school and Curriculum collaborative planning teams. Teachers share a significant responsibility in preparing young people to lead successful and productive lives.
Graduate, early career and experienced education support teachers are encouraged to apply. Teachers without an education support qualification but with a demonstrated interest will be supported to build their capacity and understanding of working with students with special educational needs.
