Job summary

Searson Buck Group Pty Ltd in Tasmania is seeking an experienced State Manager to lead our Tasmanian civil infrastructure operations, drive strategic growth, and oversee project delivery, commercial performance, and people leadership.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will manage operations, business development, tendering, and client relationships, while mentoring a team of project managers, supervisors and support staff to deliver on a diverse portfolio of projects.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent required.
• Extensive civil/road construction experience.
• Proven track record delivering large projects and managing teams.
• Strong commercial acumen with P&L responsibility.
• Experience in business development, tendering and client management.
• Excellent leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Hands-on leader with strategic mindset.
• Ability to build long-term client relationships in Tasmania.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic, financial and operational performance of the Tasmanian business unit.
• Identify and secure new business opportunities across government and private sectors.
• Manage tendering, estimating and quotations.
• Oversee delivery of civil construction projects.
• Maintain strong client, stakeholder and supplier relationships.
• Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality and environmental standards.
• Drive continuous improvement and contribute to business strategy.
• Manage budgets, forecasting, reporting and overall performance.
