Job summary

SMEC in Hobart is seeking an Associate Engineer – Roads & Highways to provide technical leadership and project delivery across transport infrastructure while growing our Roads & Highways capability in Tasmania. You will work with an established local office and a broader multidisciplinary team to deliver projects that shape communities.

In this role you will lead design delivery from concept to completion, manage scope and client relationships, mentor engineers, and contribute to business

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• 10+ years’ experience delivering roads and highways projects.
• Proven ability to manage project delivery and technical outcomes.
• Strong stakeholder and client relationship skills.
• Experience leading and mentoring engineers.
• Sound commercial and project management awareness.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of road and highway design projects from concept through to completion.
• Provide technical guidance and oversight across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Manage project scope, programme, quality and commercial outcomes.
• Develop and strengthen relationships with clients and industry partners across Tasmania.
• Review designs, calculations and technical deliverables.
• Support project pursuits, proposals and business development activities.
• Identify opportunities to grow our Roads & Highways capability in the local market.
• Mentor, coach and develop engineers and graduates.
• Contribute to the broader growth of our Transport business in Tasmania.
