Job summary

Sharp & Carter represents a large Queensland local government organisation seeking an experienced Systems Analyst to support and advance the Council's application and database capabilities in Townsville.

You will work across application support, systems administration, database management, release management and problem solving, collaborating with technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure reliable, secure systems.

Qualifications

• 10+ years' IT experience in the industry.
• 7+ years in a similar Systems Analyst / IT role.
• Demonstrated database administration and configuration experience.
• Experience with MSSQL or other relevant database technologies.
• Strong understanding of system software, applications and technical environments.
• Experience across software testing, release management and deployment.
• Ability to investigate complex technical issues and implement effective solutions.
• Experience developing or maintaining programs and scripts.
• ITIL, Service Management or Project Management qualifications/frameworks.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain and support system software, applications and databases.
• Provide application maintenance and support, including performance monitoring and investigation of complex issues.
• Troubleshoot system, process and service issues and implement fixes; assist with selection, configuration and testing of software products.
• Manage application changes and releases through packaging, build, testing and deployment into live environments.
• Maintain and administer release tools and processes.
• Develop, test, correct and document moderately complex programs and scripts.
• Contribute to major incident management, including stakeholder management and post-incident reviews.
• Perform database administration and configuration, maintaining database security and integrity.
• Ensure incidents, requests and changes are recorded and documented.
• Analyse recurring issues, trends and performance metrics to identify opportunities for system and process improvement.
• Provide technical advice and contribute to ongoing improvement of IT environment.

Our client is a large Queensland local government organisation seeking an experienced Systems Analyst to join its Infrastructure and Architecture team.

This is a technically focused role responsible for the provision, support and ongoing improvement of Council's application and database capabilities.

This role is based in Townsville and relocation packages are available for interstate candidates.

The Opportunity

You'll work across application support, systems administration, database management, release management and technical problem solving, helping ensure key systems and services remain reliable, secure and fit for purpose. The role will suit an experienced Systems Analyst who enjoys getting into the detail of systems, troubleshooting complex issues and working across both technical teams and business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide application maintenance and support, including performance monitoring and investigation of complex issues
• Troubleshoot system, process and service issues and implement agreed fixes and preventative measuresAssist with the selection, configuration and testing of software products and platform-specific versions

• Perform database administration and configuration, maintaining standards for database security and integrity

• Provide technical advice and contribute to the ongoing improvement of Council's IT environment

About You

• 10+ years' relevant IT industry experience, with at least 7 years in a similar position
• Strong experience in application maintenance, support and troubleshooting
• Demonstrated database administration and configuration experience
• Experience with MSSQL or other relevant database technologies
• Strong understanding of system software, applications and technical environments
• Experience across software testing, release management and deployment
• Ability to investigate complex technical issues and implement effective solutions
• Experience developing or maintaining programs and scripts
• ITIL, Service Management or Project Management qualifications/frameworks
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or a related discipline
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• A demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety, compliance and business continuity
