Job summary

Rent A Space Self Storage (Gropac Pty Ltd) is seeking a hands-on Systems Administrator to support our IT environment across Sydney locations. Based at Moore Park (42 O'Dea Ave) with occasional travel to other sites, you will manage Windows systems, networks, and key business platforms, ensuring uptime, security and efficiency.

You'll work with management, external IT providers and vendors on upgrades, projects and cybersecurity improvements, while delivering day-to-day support to store managers

Qualifications

• A degree or relevant qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in systems administration and network administration or similar hands-on IT role.
• Good working knowledge of Windows and Windows Server environments.
• Practical understanding of TCP/IP networking, DHCP, routers, firewalls, VPNs and Wi‑Fi.
• Experience managing user accounts, permissions and access controls.
• Experience supporting business applications and cloud-based systems.
• Understanding of backup, patch management and IT security practices.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support Windows systems, Windows Server and related IT infrastructure across multiple locations.
• Configure, deploy and troubleshoot routers, firewalls, VPNs, DHCP, Wi‑Fi and network connectivity.
• Monitor systems and networks and investigate hardware, software, application and connectivity issues.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, email accounts and access to company systems and resources.
• Administer and support key business platforms including SiteLink, StorLogix and other operational applications.
• Maintain system backups and recovery processes, including verification and restoration.
• Support CCTV, NVRs, electronic access-control systems and other network-connected security equipment.
• Provide day-to-day IT support to store managers and employees, remotely and on-site.
• Manage firewall rules, secure remote access, network segmentation and security controls.
• Assist with Windows security, patching and cybersecurity improvements.
• Coordinate with external IT providers and vendors on projects and issues.
• Assist with rollout of new IT infrastructure, applications and websites.
• Investigate recurring technical issues and propose improvements.

About the role

Rent A Space Self Storage (Gropac Pty Ltd) is looking for a hands-on Systems Administrator to support our IT environment across our Sydney locations.

The role will be based primarily at our Moore Park site at 42 O'Dea Ave, Moore Park NSW 2021, with occasional travel to other Rent A Space Self Storage locations across Sydney. You'll be responsible for the day-to-day administration, support and improvement of our systems, networks and business applications. This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys solving problems, working across different technologies and taking ownership of issues from investigation through to resolution.

You’ll support store managers and employees across the business while also working closely with management, external IT providers, software vendors and technology partners on infrastructure upgrades, system changes and ongoing IT projects.

What you'll be doing

• Administer and support Windows systems, Windows Server and related IT infrastructure across multiple locations.
• Configure, deploy and troubleshoot routers, firewalls, VPNs, DHCP, Wi-Fi and network connectivity.
• Monitor systems and networks and investigate hardware, software, application and connectivity issues.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, email accounts and access to company systems and resources.
• Administer and support key business platforms including SiteLink, StorLogix and other operational applications.
• Maintain system backups and recovery processes, including backup verification and restoration where required.
• Support CCTV, NVRs, electronic access-control systems and other network-connected security equipment.
• Provide day-to-day IT support to store managers and employees, remotely and on-site when required.
• Manage firewall rules, secure remote access, network segmentation and other security controls.
• Assist with Windows security, system hardening, patching and general cybersecurity improvements.
• Coordinate technical issues with external IT providers, telecommunications providers, software vendors and hardware suppliers.
• Assist with the rollout of new IT infrastructure, applications, websites and other technology projects.
• Investigate recurring technical issues and recommend practical improvements to system reliability, security and performance.
• Maintain network, system and configuration documentation and keep records of significant IT changes.
• Support authorised cybersecurity reviews, vulnerability assessments and penetration-testing activities as required.

About you

We're looking for someone with a practical systems administration background who is comfortable working across both systems and networking. You'll ideally have:

• A degree or relevant qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience in systems administration, network administration or a similar hands-on IT role.
• Good working knowledge of Windows and Windows Server environments.
• Practical understanding of TCP/IP networking, DHCP, routers, firewalls, VPNs and Wi-Fi.
• Experience managing user accounts, permissions and access controls.
• Experience supporting business applications and cloud-based systems.
• Understanding of backup and recovery, patch management and general IT security practices.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work through technical issues independently.
• Good communication skills and confidence working with both technical providers and non-technical staff.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and support users across multiple business locations.
• Experience with multi-site environments, Microsoft 365, CCTV, electronic access-control systems, cybersecurity or operational business platforms will be highly regarded.
