Job summary

LegalStream, based in Sydney CBD, is seeking a System Engineer to join our IT team on a full-time basis. You will work on Microsoft-based environments, including Azure and Microsoft 365, while gaining exposure to security operations and automation.

You’ll collaborate with senior engineers and stakeholders, develop automation scripts, and contribute to system improvements. A hybrid work arrangement may be available in the future depending on business needs.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of IT experience in systems administration, IT support, or software development.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, Windows Server and Azure.
• Familiarity with Active Directory/Entra ID and networking fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Provide Level 1 and Level 2 IT support across hardware, software, Microsoft 365 and cloud services.
• Support and maintain Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Azure, Citrix, networking and end-user devices.
• Assist with user onboarding, offboarding and access management.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate with suppliers and managed service providers.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, JavaScript, C# or other programming languages.
• Assist with system integrations, software deployments and technology improvement initiatives.
• Support cybersecurity operations, including patch management, vulnerability remediation and security monitoring.
• Maintain technical documentation, procedures and IT asset records.

About the Role

LegalStream is seeking a motivated System Engineer with at least 2 years of experience to join our IT team.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build their career across systems administration, cloud technologies, cybersecurity and automation. Working closely with senior engineers, you’ll help maintain and improve our Microsoft-based technology environment while gaining exposure to Azure, Microsoft 365, security operations and business applications.

We’re looking for someone with strong troubleshooting skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving and an interest in using scripting and automation to improve systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide Level 1 and Level 2 IT support across hardware, software, Microsoft 365 and cloud services.
• Support and maintain Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Azure, Citrix, networking and end-user devices.

Skills and Experience

• At least 2 years of experience in IT support, systems administration or software development.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory/Entra ID and Azure.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP.
• Scripting or development experience using PowerShell, Python, JavaScript, C# or similar languages.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and customer service skills.
• A proactive approach, willingness to learn and ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
