Job summary

Redpath Partners seeks a Senior Principal to lead Sydney’s growth, client relationships and strategic design oversight. This role combines business development, commercial leadership and people leadership to strengthen the Sydney office and expand market presence.

The successful candidate will drive revenue, manage project profitability and mentor teams across multiple levels, collaborating with regional and global teams to deliver design-led, commercially driven outcomes.

Qualifications

• 10+ years' experience within architecture, interior design or related professional services.
• Senior leadership, Principal, Director or office leadership experience.
• Strong network of clients and industry relationships across the Sydney market.
• Demonstrated track record in business development and winning new work.
• Strong commercial understanding: revenue, forecasting, resource planning, profitability and fee recovery.
• Ability to lead and develop high‑performing teams.
• Strong design judgement with strategic project direction.
• Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation and stakeholder management.
• Understanding of building regulations, statutory requirements and construction processes.
• Confidence to operate at senior executive and client level.
• Tertiary qualifications in architecture or related discipline; registration advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of new business opportunities across the Sydney market.
• Build, maintain and strengthen senior-level client relationships.
• Identify opportunities for repeat work and expansion into new markets.
• Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of prospects, opportunities and proposals.
• Represent the practice externally and strengthen its profile across the industry.
• Collaborate with regional and global teams to identify cross-office opportunities.
• Take responsibility for local office revenue, profitability and commercial performance.
• Set and monitor revenue targets; manage performance with project leaders.
• Oversee forecasting, resource planning, invoicing, fee recovery and project profitability.
• Provide commercial oversight across projects to maintain budgets and margins.
• Contribute to annual business planning, budgets and growth strategies.
• Provide senior leadership and mentorship across the Sydney office.
• Support succession planning, talent development and retention.
