Job summary

NH Collection Sydney is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Chief Engineer to lead the hotel's engineering and maintenance operations during pre-opening and beyond. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the property is maintained to the highest standards while delivering a safe, efficient and exceptional environment for guests and team members alike.

Qualifications

• Experience as Chief Engineer or senior engineering leader in a hotel.
• Experience in premium, luxury or upper-upscale hotels.
• Strong knowledge of building systems and asset management.
• Experience managing budgets, contractors and capital projects.
• Formal qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering and maintenance operations for the hotel.
• Ensure safe and efficient performance of facilities and systems.
• Oversee preventative maintenance, repairs and projects.
• Ensure compliance with safety and statutory requirements.
• Conduct regular inspections of rooms, public areas and plant rooms.
• Prepare and manage engineering budgets and costs.
• Monitor energy and water use; drive sustainability initiatives.
• Manage external contractors and develop the team.
• Support pre-opening activities and readiness planning.
