Job summary

Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre (MUSAC) seeks casual swimming coaches to join the MQU Squad program, delivering face-to-face training across competitive and recreational streams under the Head Coach.

You will coach swimmers from Junior Development through Senior Competition, design seasonal plans, and provide technical stroke corrections. Roles require availability on a rotating roster and relevant checks. NSW location.

Qualifications

  • Hold Australian Swim Coach License from Swimming Australia as minimum.
  • Demonstrated experience coaching in a competitive/development squad environment.
  • Possesses experience of competitive coaching of Metropolitan/Country level athletes and above.
  • Ability to develop and nurture swimmers of all abilities with diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and develop swimmers from Junior Development to Senior Competition phases.
  • Develop and implement seasonal training plans with stroke correction and performance training.
  • Provide direction to swimmers of all abilities and adapt stroke models.
  • Attend and coach at MQU Club races and internal/external competitions.
  • Plan and coordinate running of internal Club racing opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Head Coach to implement retention activities.
  • Maintain records of athletes’ progression and respond to parent inquiries.

Job description

Coach swimmers of all levels at MUSAC, delivering training, stroke correction, and competition prep in a dynamic, inclusive university squad program.

Role

The Campus Life is currently seeking casual swimming coaches to join the Macquarie University Sports and Aquatics Centre (MUSAC) team. Reporting to the Head Coach, the casual swimming coaches will be responsible for delivering face to face training sessions in both competitive and recreational streams within the MQU Squad program.

Duties
  • Coach and develop swimmers from the Junior Development phase through to Senior Competition phase within the MQU Squad program
  • Develop and implement seasonal training plans, providing coaching and advice on technical stroke correction and competition-based performance training plans
  • Provide direction to swimmers of all abilities, adapting and modifying stroke models to suit varying abilities
  • Attend and coach at MQU Club races, internal and external competitions
  • In consultation with the Head Coach, plan and coordinate the running of MQU internal Club racing opportunities
  • In collaboration with the Head Coach and the coaching team, implement student retention activities
  • Consult with Head Coach to assist and provide feedback within the squad program via the use of CRM system, for continued growth and improvement of the squad program
  • Coach School Holiday Squad Programs
  • Maintain accurate records on athletes/swimmers’ progression within the program
  • Completion of administration duties including parent enquiries & parent feedback on student progression

About You
  • Hold Australian Swim Coach License from Swimming Australia as minimum

Work hours will vary throughout the competition season. Must be available to work on a rotating roster seven (7) days per week. This role requires a NSW Working with Children Check, current First Aid and CPR certificates.
