Job summary

Mater Hospital Springfield is expanding its 10-bed Extended Stay Unit (ESU)/23-hour ward and seeks experienced Registered Nurses for full-time, part-time, or casual roles. You will deliver perioperative nursing care from admission to discharge in a state-of-the-art facility, contributing to safe, efficient patient care and surgical recovery.

In this role you will work across diverse shifts including nights, support patient advocacy, and participate in quality improvement within perioperative

Qualifications

• Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
• Background in surgical nursing is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills in a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to quality improvement, safety and professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care in line with NMBA standards and Mater policies.
• Undertake thorough patient assessments during admission and post-operative phases.
• Provide patient advocacy and informed consent understanding.
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams for smooth surgical admissions.
• Promote safety and infection control in line with governance standards.
• Support discharge planning and patient education.
• Contribute to continuous improvement within the unit.
• Mentor Enrolled Nurses, students and junior staff as required.
