Job summary

Mater Central Queensland - Rockhampton is seeking an Enrolled Nurse for the Day Surgery Unit in Springfield on a full-time or part-time, permanent basis. You will assist in preparing patients for surgery, ensuring they are informed, supported and confident throughout their perioperative journey.

This state‑of‑the‑art facility serves the Greater Springfield region with a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical services.

Qualifications

• Current registration as an Enrolled Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
• Ability to deliver delegated nursing care safely and effectively.
• Strong communication skills and commitment to patient advocacy.

Responsibilities

• Perform delegated nursing care in accordance with NMBA standards and Mater policies.
• Conduct structured patient assessments and communicate findings with the RN during admission and post-operative journey.
• Implement and evaluate evidence-based nursing interventions within scope of practice.
• Advocate for patients, ensuring informed consent and understanding of procedures.
• Follow correct escalation processes.
• Maintain high standards of infection control, safety and quality at all times.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure seamless perioperative care.
